Until Every Women is Safe

Imagine opening the refrigerator door and seeing nothing inside! Outside, rain is pouring through a broken roof, while your children sit hungry, restless, and unable to sleep. You try to stay strong, but the weight of helplessness feels unbearable. Now imagine, in that moment of despair, a helping hand reaching out to you with food, shelter, and hope. This is the story of many families in our Care List, mothers and children who have endured hardships no one should ever face. And this is where Moms Aid steps in.

Moms Aid is a national charity in the Maldives, created with one purpose: to bring hope, dignity, and safety to women and families in need. We believe no mother should feel alone in her struggles, and no child should suffer hunger or live without security. Our mission is to end poverty and violence so that every woman can live free from fear and every family can look forward to a brighter tomorrow.

As a mother myself, I am so proud that Moms Aid exists today. I can sleep peacefully at night knowing that because of our work, a child has gone to bed with a full stomach and a safe roof over their head. That is the hope we bring, and that is the change we strive for every single day.

Over the years, with the love and generosity of our community, we have been able to turn despair into hope for hundreds of families. Today, we support more than 260 vulnerable families across the country — single mothers, widows, orphans, families with special needs, and many others who had nowhere else to turn. Through our Family Sponsorship Program, we provide them with food, baby care, hygiene essentials, and education support, helping them move towards stability and independence.

Some of our most inspiring achievements include the HiyaVahi Housing Project, where we have built 6 safe and fully furnished homes for struggling mothers and their children — giving them not just shelter, but dignity and a fresh start. Through our Back to School campaign, we have equipped over 780 children with school bags, uniforms, and supplies so they can walk into their classrooms with confidence. And every Ramadan, our Ramadan Aid campaign brings relief to hundreds of families with food packs and essentials, easing their burden during the holy month.

But Moms Aid is not just about providing aid — it’s about changing lives. Through our Every Woman and UNITE campaigns, we stand up against domestic abuse, provide emergency shelter, legal aid, mental health care, and vocational training, helping women rebuild their lives with strength and independence.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support and trust of the public. Every donation, every act of kindness, and every hand that reached out to help has made it possible for us to bring light into the darkest moments of a mother’s life.

At Moms Aid, every smile of a child who goes to bed with a full stomach, every mother who feels safe again, and every family that regains hope is our greatest achievement. And we will not stop — we will continue working, until every woman is safe.
