Six Months of Growth, Learning, and Creating Space for Women Online

It has been a long time since I wrote a story for World Pulse. But I’m always here, reading beautiful stories, getting inspired, and leaving comments to support and encourage one another.

The past six months have been busy for me. Between my professional work and my volunteer activities, I often found myself moving from one responsibility to another without taking enough time to pause, reflect, and appreciate how much was happening in my life.

I want to share some of the beautiful moments I have experienced over the past six months, moments that showed why I love volunteering, why I believe in sharing knowledge, and why creating opportunities for women to participate in the digital world matters so much to me.

Creating opportunities for women

I always believe that women should not only consume information online but also have the opportunity to create, contribute, and tell their own stories. Yet many women still face barriers when it comes to digital literacy and participation in online spaces.

This motivated me to organise activities that introduce women to open knowledge, help them develop digital skills, and encourage them to contribute women's stories to the world's largest online encyclopedia.

Over the past six months, I had the pleasure of organising two successful in-person events in Madagascar. What made me especially happy was having some of the women participants come from my own association, MamynySoa. Some of them are from the countryside, bringing with them a strong willingness to learn, grow, and be part of these learning spaces. It was wonderful to see them discover new digital skills and realise that they could contribute to something that can have an impact far beyond our local community.

EditHer 2026 by Africa Wiki Women

This is the first time that Madagascar host an event of EditHer campagn, organised by Africa Wiki Women, an initiative that I proudly represent in Madagascar. The event gave us an opportunity to bring women together around a shared goal: improving the visibility of women and women's stories on open knowledge.

Through the workshop, participants discovered that contributing to the internet is not something reserved for experts. With guidance, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, anyone can contribute knowledge. I was especially proud to help bring this initiative to Madagascar and create a local space where women could participate. It's nice to see that women can leave a lasting mark on the digital world.

Africa Wiki Challenge 2026

Another memorable experience was organising the Wiki Africa Challenge 2026 in Madagascar, under the theme “WATER FOR LIFE IN AFRICA,” our Liquid Heritage: Documenting the State of Africa’s Water Resources and Sanitation Systems initiative seeks to address this gap by encouraging contributors to document and expand knowledge about Africa’s water resources and sanitation systems.

During the workshop I lead, participants were invited to create and improve articles covering rivers, lakes, wetlands, groundwater systems, sanitation infrastructure, water governance, climate change impacts, and innovative approaches to water management across the continent.

Organising an event is never only about what happens on the day itself. There are many things behind the scenes, planning, communication, inviting participants, preparing activities, solving unexpected problems, and making sure everyone feels welcome.

It challenged me, but it also helped me grow. Every event I organise teaches me something new about leadership, teamwork, communication, and community building. Most importantly, they all show that volunteering can create real opportunities for people.

World Pulse has been part of my growth

Looking back, I realise that my journey with World Pulse has also played an important role in who I am becoming. World Pulse gave me a space to share my voice, but it gave me much more than that. Through this community, I have gained knowledge, confidence, inspiration, and connections with women from different parts of the world.

I am coming back to write for World Pulse not because my journey has slowed down, but because I want to take the time to document it. I want to share more stories from the past six months, the people I have met, the lessons I have learned, the challenges I have faced, and the beautiful moments that motivated to continue to volunteer and create opportunities for others.

I am especially grateful to World Pulse for being one of the spaces that has encouraged me to use my voice, keep learning, and believe that my journey can inspire someone else. For me, World Pulse is so much more than a platform for sharing stories. It is a vibrant community that champions women, helps us grow and connect, and transforms our boldest ideas into real-world action.

Sometimes we are so busy living our lives and working toward our goals that we don't realise how much we have already grown. When I look back now, I can see that the woman I am today has learned so much from the experiences, challenges, people, and communities I have encountered along the way.

What I love about myself: I truly love helping people. I love sharing what I know. I love learning from others. I love creating spaces where people can discover something new. And I love seeing someone gain confidence because they were given an opportunity to learn.

For me, gaining knowledge is not only about personal growth. It is also about sharing that knowledge with others.

There is still so much to tell

These events are only part of what has happened in my life over the past six months. There have been challenges, lessons, new connections, moments of doubt, moments of joy, and many small victories that deserve to be remembered.

This is only the beginning of my return to storytelling. I have six months of stories to share and I can't wait to tell them.
