Podcasting Wisdom: A look back at Training Tuesday!

Hello everyone!

We had a beautiful Training Tuesday last evening. We started with a masterclass on building a podcast from scratch. We looked at what podcasts are, how they work and what makes them successful, and then got into a conversation on what you need to set up a podcast of your own. We looked at the hardware - microphones, head/earphones, recording devices - and software - editing, recording, and production. We also explored platforms to publish a podcast, and then went into a few best practices. Following this, we had a chance to listen to Sharmin Prince and Sylvia Nalubega share about their journeys into podcasting. Over a half-hour of powerful insights, our community members who attended the session also got to ask some really great questions. One question that came from Arrey Echi stood out in particular - it was on making podcasts accessible to folks with hearing impairments. Sharmin talked about how video-based podcasting with a closed caption / subtitles would be one way, and we also talked about uploading the transcript for easier access.
