My Feature Angle

My feature angle

I want to write about access to information and how it impacts on the lives of people particularly women.
I chose this angle because of my experiences with World Pulse. I look at myself today and I acknowledge that “my people perish because they lack knowledge” due to limited access to information. This breeds fear, ignorance, lack of self confidence and assertive behaviour. It perpetuates the existing unequal gender relations, harmful traditional, religious and cultural practices; violence and the dearth of democracy and rule of law.
I will explore the current situation in Zimbabwe and take readers back and forth into the past and the present Zimbabwe.

My feature will be both educational and informative. It is intended to steer debate on media freedom, access to resources, literacy and the impact of information and communication technologies to underprivileged communities and women in particular while providing solutions to addressing the challenge facing many African nations.
