My City My Pride

It has always been about the big cities. First, there were the four metros (although, I am still not sure why they were called metros) – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Now there are other big cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad,Pune, etc. It seems like India is only about these cities. Yet the country is dotted with millions of small towns and villages. Each unique and beautiful in its own way. With each having wonderful stories unfolding every moment of the day. But these stories largely remain ignored in popular media. Even if they are told, they are mostly about North India; the Hindi speaking belt. North East India, especially, has been forgotten.

This series is a humble attempt to rectify that, to celebrate the spirit of small town India. We at TheIndianMillenial are based out of Agartala (Shame on you if you don’t know where it is) and so we begin here; our home town. Contributors to this series will bring to you their takes on the town which they have come to love so much. In a series of posts that will not just celebrate but also criticize. We hope to bring to you posts about love, loss, nostalgia, diminishing values and the changing landscape of the town.

We also invite other writers/bloggers/facebookers and anyone who has a soft spot for this place, to join in the conversation, as we celebrate the spirit of this small town. Tell us the reasons why you love Agartala.
