Initiative Update

What began as a simple act just a few neighbors coming together to clean our surroundings, has grown into something far more meaningful. At first, it was just about sweeping, picking up waste and keeping our environment tidy. But over time, it became clear that this was bigger than just cleaning; it was about dignity, responsibility and hope. Today, that small beginning has been recognized by World Pulse and it fuels my conviction that no step is ever too small to matter. I truly believe that little drops make an ocean.
So far, we have directly touched 20 lives. For some, it was the joy of seeing their street clean again. For others, it was realizing that they too could make a difference, no matter how modest. Each person we reached has become a spark, a reminder that change doesn’t always come from above, it often begins right where we are with the people around us.
But this is only the beginning. My dream is to see Lagos transformed not just cleaned for a day or two but sustained as a city where cleanliness, order and community pride become part of our daily lives. I want children to grow up knowing that keeping their environment clean is a way of honoring themselves, their families and their city. I want to see recycling companies working hand in hand with citizens and neighborhoods turning waste into value rather than pollution.
To get there, I cannot do it alone. This is a call to action, to organizations who have the resources, to individuals who have the passion and to communities who are ready to see change. Start where you are: on your street, in your compound, in your market. Partner with recycling companies. Mobilize your neighbors. Take one step, no matter how small. Together, these small steps will ripple into a wave of transformation.
We do not have to wait for the government to make Lagos the city we desire. We are the government. We are the citizens, the dreamers, the doers. Change will come when we stop waiting and start acting.
This is only the beginning and I am not stopping until Lagos becomes the clean, thriving city it is meant to be.
