From Passion to Struggle—But I Will Not Give Up
In 2022, I gave birth to my son, Mikaeel. Becoming a mother awakened a fire in me—a deep urge to create something of my own, something meaningful. I dreamed of building a business that would stand out, something luxurious yet personal. After countless ideas and sleepless nights, I finally gave life to Mikumelon, a luxury boutique.
At first, Mikumelon thrived. I poured my heart into every design, crafting custom, hand-embroidered luxury pieces at prices far below what they were worth. I wanted to bring dreams to life, to give every woman the feeling of wearing an heirloom-worthy piece without worrying about the cost. And people loved it. They came in, admired my work, and placed orders. But behind the success, reality hit me hard. I was alone.
I worked day and night, but I wasn’t making enough for myself. I trusted my staff, but they betrayed me—stealing fabrics, cutting corners, and delivering poor work. I was too soft to fire them immediately, hoping they’d improve. I trusted influencers and celebrities to promote my brand, but many took my pieces and never paid, never even acknowledged my work. Clients who promised to return never did, yet they demanded everything at throwaway prices.
I lost so much because I was too kind. Motherhood made me softer. I couldn’t bring myself to ruin anyone’s special day, so even when payments were delayed (or never came at all), I still handed over their dream outfits. I thought being generous would earn me loyalty, but instead, it invited exploitation.
I blame myself for letting my business, my dream, reach this breaking point. But I am not giving up.
I have learned my lesson. Luxury is not for everyone, and I do not want clients who bargain, disrespect my craft, and hurt me. Their good reviews don’t pay my bills. What I need—what every hardworking woman needs—is real support.
I am now raising my prices. I deserve to be paid for my time, my talent, and my dedication. I am no longer entertaining people who don’t respect what I do. If you are a woman who believes in handmade luxury, in artistry, in true craftsmanship, then you are my client. I want to create for people who value what I bring to the table.
This is my battle, and I am fighting for my dream. I will not let it die.
