Like the Shiuli flower, I choose to bloom again, no matter how many seasons have passed.
I have always believed that every woman carries unique talents and dreams within her. The challenge is not having those talents—it is finding the opportunity, support, and confidence to use them. My story is one of rediscovering myself after years of putting my own dreams aside, and I know that many women in Bangladesh share a similar journey.
As a child, I was highly dedicated to my studies and always enjoyed learning. School was a place where I could express myself and explore my interests. I actively participated in various indoor and outdoor cultural programs and was fortunate to receive several awards. These achievements gave me confidence and encouraged me to dream about a bright future.
My love for learning extended beyond the classroom. I enjoyed reading books and writing, passions that remain an important part of my life today. During my college years, I continued to participate in extracurricular activities and even won a prize in a chess competition. These experiences taught me discipline, creativity, and perseverance. I also had a deep interest in art and spent many hours drawing and creating. Even now, whenever I have free time, I turn to art as a source of peace and self-expression.
Like many women in Bangladesh, however, life did not unfold exactly as I had imagined. Marriage, family responsibilities, and motherhood became my primary focus. As the mother of twin children, I devoted myself completely to raising them. For many years, my own ambitions remained in the background while I dedicated my time, energy, and love to ensuring that my children grew up healthy, educated, and supported.
I do not regret caring for my family. Motherhood is one of the most meaningful parts of my life. Yet, during those years, I often felt that my own identity was slowly disappearing. The talents, dreams, and aspirations I had carried since childhood seemed distant. Many women experience this feeling. Society often expects women to sacrifice their personal goals for the well-being of others, and their contributions are frequently taken for granted.
One of the most difficult parts of my journey was the lack of recognition and encouragement from the people closest to me. Neither my father nor my husband truly valued my abilities or my creative potential. Their lack of support affected my confidence and limited opportunities that I might otherwise have pursued. As a result, I was unable to achieve many of the goals I had once imagined for myself.
But life also taught me an important lesson: sometimes we must become our own source of encouragement.
When my children entered their teenage years, I finally found space to focus on myself again. Instead of dwelling on lost opportunities, I decided to start rebuilding my identity. I began investing my time in learning new skills, expanding my knowledge, and exploring opportunities for personal growth. Step by step, I started rediscovering the woman I had once been.
Today, I continue to write and participate in different competitions, where I have been fortunate to receive recognition for my work. Every achievement, no matter how small, reminds me that my talents still matter and that it is never too late to pursue one’s dreams. I also continue creating art, which remains one of my greatest passions.
As a middle-aged woman, I know that building a new path takes time. Success does not happen overnight, especially when starting later in life. There are challenges, doubts, and obstacles along the way. However, I refuse to give up. I am determined to move forward with courage and persistence. My goal is to create my own identity, become financially independent, and prove to myself that my dreams are worth pursuing.
This determination is one of the reasons I joined World Pulse. I wanted to become part of a community where women support, encourage, and uplift one another. I hope to learn from the experiences of others, gain inspiration from their journeys, and continue strengthening my own voice.
Most importantly, I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire other women who may feel overlooked, discouraged, or invisible. No matter our age or circumstances, we still have the power to grow, learn, and create meaningful change in our lives. Our dreams do not have an expiration date.
To every woman reading this: believe in your abilities, keep moving forward, and never stop investing in yourself. The journey may be long, but every step matters.
With love and gratitude to this community, I look forward to continuing my journey and sharing more stories along the way.
