ELECTRICITY IS NOT CASUAL, AND NEGLIGENCE KILLS.

It took me days and hours wondering if it's really necessary for me to share this story?What are people gonna think of our family after this?How will the judgement pronounce? At the end of the day, I wouldn't love your families to face the same consequences we had due to lack of awareness on electricity safety.

This is a story about my elder brother LEACKY JUMA, whose life ended unexpectedly due to electrocution. There was no warning and no sense that anything was wrong until it was too late. Stories like this are rarely shared, yet they reveal how common assumptions about safety can have serious consequences. By telling what happened, the intention is to inform, not to seek sympathy, and to help others recognize risks before and to spread awareness..

What happened to my elder brother is something no family anticipates and few talk about openly. His death by electrocution wasn’t dramatic or intentional it was the result of a situation many would consider routine. This story is told to shed light on the dangers that are often ignored and to remind others that awareness and prevention matter more than we realize.

It has been 13 years down the line since he visited his creator,the story seats in my mind like it happened yesterday,as other families enjoyed their Christmas Eve in the December of 2013,our family ended the year in painful tears.

Christmas Eve is supposed to smell like rain on warm soil, sound like laughter, and feel like hope. That evening, the rain fell gently, as if blessing the land. Houses were glowing, families preparing for celebration, and my elder brother stepped out just to run a small errand with his friend AMOS. None of us knew he would never return the same.

Along the roadside stood an electricity pole, old and leaning, its wires hanging lower than they should have. We had all seen it before. We had all passed it before. We had all assumed, “Someone will fix it.”

But that rainy evening, water turned the ground into a silent conductor of danger.

One wrong step.

One moment.

One life altered forever.

The electricity found him faster than anyone could react. In the rain, the current spread invisibly through the wet ground. There was no warning sound. No sparks. Just a sudden collapse and a scream that still echoes in my memor,my mum received a phone call while making "Chapati" rolls and the message was "Mama LEACKY,leave whatever you are doing and come by the raodside".The message still wasn't clear until I followed her to the roadside.

Collapsed.Yeah, you read it clear,she had collapsed in disbelief,the elder son carcus were laying down their in black everything burnt.My brother never survived. The injuries were severe. The pain was real. And the trauma, for him and for us, has never truly left.

It was all over the news,in SIAYA COUNTY,GEM CONSTITUENCY in Kenya.Yeah,that was my elder brother.I wished this could have been some fiction story but it's the reality I am still facing till to date.

Let us all spread awareness about electricity safety,this lights that brighten our families could one day turn our families dull forever and it happened after the lights took my only brother.

This was not an accident caused by recklessness.

It was caused by neglect.

A lagging pole. Exposed wires. Poor maintenance. Silence and lack of safety awarenesses.

Electricity is a powerful servant but a merciless enemy when safety is ignored. During rainy seasons, the danger multiplies. Wet soil, puddles, metal objects, fallen poles, and sagging wires become deadly traps waiting for an innocent passerby.

This story is not shared to spread fear.

It is shared to spread awareness and save lives worldwide.

1. REPORT EXPORSED OR LOW HANGING WIRES ANDLEANING POLES IMMEDIATELY.

2.KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM POWER LINES ESPECIALLY DURING RAINS.

3.AVOID WALKING NEAR ELECTRIC INSTALLATIONS WHEN THE GROUND IS WET.
