I was honored this year to be chosen as a Global Fellow with the Goldin Institute based in Chicago, USA. Twenty of us went through a training since March (it ends in two weeks) where we learned about Asset Based Community Development. My project was creating a website where we can map our creative assets (art, dance, music, theater, etc.). I just launched it last week and am now looking for people who can create profiles so that I can work on how these things will show up on the site. Have a look!
Creative PlaceMakers commit to having sustainability and honoring cultural diversity as core values. There are several uses for this mapping:
- Finding like-minded people who might want to collaborate locally.
- Visiting people and projects when traveling.
- Working on projects or socializing virtually.
- Using the data to promote the growth and support of creative placemaking efforts. Leadership in cities and neighborhoods can evaluate how to grow these assets and support them with funding, space, training, etc.
