I was today's year old when I came across the term 'Asherah pole' in a bible verse of all places!
I had to do some research and this is what I found out so I had to share!
Who else knew about this? Share in the comments please!!
There is so much we still don't know, I will always search for the true knowledge hidden from us!
In the Bible, an Asherah pole refers to a sacred tree or pole used in the worship of Asherah, a Canaanite goddess and consort of Baal. The Asherah pole was a symbol of fertility and was often erected alongside altars dedicated to Baal.
The Bible condemns the use of Asherah poles, viewing them as idolatrous and a threat to the worship of the one true God. References to Asherah poles can be found in several books of the Bible, including:
- 2 Kings 13:6
- 2 Kings 17:10
- 2 Kings 21:3
- 1 Kings 14:23
- Deuteronomy 16:21
These verses often describe the Asherah poles as being erected by the Israelites, who were warned against worshiping other gods and engaging in idolatrous practices.
