Story
Ngankak Toko Virginie has more than five years of experience in disability rights. Currently, she is a teacher at Promhandicam, a school that promotes inclusive education for children with disabilities. Having faced discrimination and rejection because of a disability, Ngankak chose teaching as a career so that she could encourage others who face similar challenges. She has worked on disability issues with the Cameroon Ministry of Social Affairs and has organized forums spotlighting the work of people with disabilities. Ngankak holds a bachelor’s degree in Educational Psychology and a master’s degree in Sociology. Ngankak credits the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, which she received in 2019, with professional development experience in inclusive education. The Fellowship has represented a turning point in her life, giving her a voice on inclusive education in her country.
