Smiling through the journey, growing with every step.
My second leadership experience with **Wander Women** was another beautiful and meaningful journey for me. This time, I was not only observing or learning from someone else. I actively took responsibility as a leader and had the opportunity to lead and support a group of women during a day trip.
For me, leadership is not only about giving instructions or managing a group. It is about connecting with people, understanding their needs, making them feel comfortable, and helping everyone enjoy the journey. This experience gave me another opportunity to practice these qualities in a real-life situation.
From the beginning of the trip, I felt excited and responsible. Leading a group means you have to stay aware of many things at the same time. You have to communicate with the participants, keep track of the group, help people when needed, and make sure everyone is having a good experience.
I was fortunate to have a wonderful main leader with me. She was very beautiful, warm, sincere, and friendly. Her positive attitude made the whole experience more enjoyable. I learned from the way she communicated with the participants and handled different situations with patience and kindness.
At the same time, I was able to take an active role in leading the group. I communicated with the women, helped them when necessary, supported the group activities, and tried to make everyone feel included. Every small responsibility helped me become more confident.
One thing I really enjoy about leading trips with Wander Women is meeting women from different backgrounds. Everyone comes with her own story, responsibilities, dreams, struggles, and experiences. When women travel together, they get an opportunity to step away from their usual routines and simply enjoy being themselves.
This is one of the beautiful sides of a women-only travel community.
#More Than Just Travel
For me, Wander Women is not only about visiting new places.
It is also about **women's mental wellness, connection, friendship, and self-care**.
Many women have very busy lives. They may be managing families, careers, businesses, studies, household responsibilities, or many other things at the same time. In the middle of this busy life, women often forget to take care of themselves.
*Sometimes, they need a break.
*Sometimes, they need to breathe.
*Sometimes, they simply need a day where they don't have to think about everything waiting for them at home or at work.
A day trip can look like a simple journey from the outside, but for many women, it can mean much more.
*It can be a chance to relax.
*It can be a chance to laugh with new friends.
*It can be a chance to take beautiful photographs, enjoy nature, talk freely, and create new memories.
Most importantly, it can remind a woman that **she deserves time for herself too**.
I believe mental wellness does not always have to begin with something complicated. Sometimes, taking a break, spending time in nature, connecting with supportive people, and doing something enjoyable can make a meaningful difference in how we feel.
This is one reason I appreciate the purpose behind a female travel community like Wander Women.
# What Leadership Taught Me-
This experience also taught me several important lessons about leadership.
First, **a good leader listens**.
People may have different needs and different personalities. Listening helps us understand them better.
Second, **a good leader stays calm**.
Not everything always goes exactly according to plan during a trip. A leader needs to remain patient and find solutions instead of becoming stressed.
Third, **leadership is about responsibility**.
When people trust you, you have to take that trust seriously. Their comfort and safety matter.
Fourth, **kindness is a leadership skill**.
Sometimes a simple smile, a kind word, or asking someone if they are okay can make a person feel supported.
And finally, I learned that **confidence grows through experience**.
Before taking responsibility, we may think, “Can I really do this?”
But once we step forward and actually do it, we discover that we are capable of much more than we thought.
# Women Supporting Women-
Another thing I love about Wander Women is the feeling of women supporting women.
When women come together, something special happens. We share stories, encourage one another, celebrate each other's achievements, and sometimes simply listen.
There is no need to know someone for years to feel connected. A shared journey can create a beautiful bond.
As a leader, I felt proud to contribute to that environment.
I was not just leading a group from one place to another. I was helping create a space where women could connect, relax, and enjoy themselves.
That made the responsibility feel even more meaningful.
# Looking Back-
When I look back at my second leadership experience, I feel grateful.
*I am grateful for the opportunity to lead.
*I am grateful for the women I met.
*I am grateful for the lessons I learned.
*And I am grateful to the wonderful main leader who made the experience even more enjoyable through her warmth and sincerity.
Every leadership opportunity teaches us something new. My second shadow leading experience helped me understand that leadership is not about being perfect. It is about being responsible, caring, adaptable, and willing to learn.
For me, travel is not simply about going somewhere new.
It is about **discovering ourselves, connecting with others, creating memories, and finding moments of happiness in the middle of our busy lives**.
And when women travel together, support one another, and create space for their own wellbeing, the journey becomes even more meaningful.
My second leadership experience with Wander Women was one more step in my journey—and I am looking forward to many more journeys, many more lessons, and many more opportunities to lead, connect, and grow.
